Jonagold
A crisp, juicy apple with a sprightly mix of sweet and tart flavors. A cross between Jonathan and Golden Delicious, originally from New York. Our Jonagold is the original strain that came from New York state in the 1970s. We harvest Jonagold in early October. This variety does well on dwarf rootstock, and ripens unevenly over a period of weeks, allowing the grower to spread out harvest. Home orchardists appreciate these horticultural aspects of Jonagold, not that its brilliantly sweet taste doesn’t stand alone. Triploid, plant with Newtown Pippin, Hewes Crab or Winter Banana.
