Every Year, Scott Farm welcomes visitors of all ages, from near and far, for Heirloom Apple Day-a one-day celebration of apples of all shapes, colors, tastes and their histories! This year we will gather on Sunday, October 11, 2026 for our 23rd Annual Heirloom Apple Day.

Tastings, Talks, Activities

This family friendly event will once again include all day tastings, our famous heirloom apple display, and oodles of opportunities to leave with lots of apples.

Returning this year is the incredible "apple explorer" John Bunker. An expert on American apples and their history, he is one of the founders of the mail-order nursery Fedco Trees, a division of the cooperative Fedco Seeds. For most of his life, Bunker has worked to preserve rare old apple varieties from across Maine and the New England region. In 2012, he founded the Maine Heritage Orchard in Unity, Me., a ten-acre preservation educational orchard of Maine's historic apple and pear varieties.

We're also pleased to welcome historian Todd Little-Siebold. Todd is a professor of history at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. He teaches classes on a wide range of topics, including one on the history of apples. His class “The Cider Project” was a year-long experiment in teaching the history and techniques of making hard cider. He has spent the last fifteen years tracking down, researching, and helping to preserve heirloom apples in downeast Maine. He has collaborated with the Maine Heritage Orchard since its inception in 2014 to build its current collection of 400 rare and historic cultivars.
