Heirloom Apple Varieties
Scotts Winter
This Vermont apple seems logical to trace its origins to our orchards, but it was actually found as a chance seedling at Scott Farm in Newport in 1864. Originating just a few miles from the Canadian border, this tree is naturally winter hardy and bears young. The fruit is late maturing and keeps rather well in cold storage. Freshly picked it serves better for culinary applications; it mellows in storage to become a tasty, sweet dessert apple. A Vermont delight. We harvest mid-November.
