Heirloom Apple Varieties
Nod Head
If there was ever a New England story to an apple name, this would be it. Discovered in New Hampshire, it was noted in 1842 as coming from Farmer Samuel Jewett. Jewett lived with his wife and eight children, and habitually nodded his head while walking and talking, giving rise to the variety’s name. It does best in colder climates and is moderately bearing. Eat out of hand.
