Heirloom Apple Varieties
Neidzwetkyana
The Neidzwetkyana is a deep red apple, almost purple, and the red bleeds into the flesh, making a lovely surprise when you cut into it. It also makes for a deep red cider when pressed. Few of the native varieties survive in Kyrgyzstan, where it is believed to have originated. It is a low demand tree, reflective of its origins in sparse highlands. Cold hardy and drought tolerant. We harvest mid-September. A truly remarkable variety and an interesting possibility for hybridization.
