Heirloom Apple Varieties
Liberty
Best known for its disease resistance (hence the name “Liberty”), particularly to apple scab, it is a favorite variety of plum curculio. Also noted for resistance to cedar apple rust, powdery mildew and fire blight. Its parentage derives from a Macoun and Perdue 54-12 cross, and was released in 1974. Bred in Geneva, New York at the Ag Experimental Station.
