Heirloom Apple Varieties
James Grieve
Another popular Victorian variety, coming out of Scotland from the late 1800s. It is for both fresh eating and cooking, but outstanding as a juicing apple. The tree has a long bloom window, so it’s a great addition to the home orchard if you need a pollinator for another variety. As a cooler weather tree, its pollen isn’t as adversely affected by cooler days in the spring.
This is still a new variety for us, so you may not see it in our Farm Market this season.
