Heirloom Apple Varieties
Hidden Rose
This apple was discovered in the 1960’s. The Hidden Rose Apple is a crunchy apple with a tart taste reminiscent of strawberry lemonade. They are mainly eaten out of hand, but their firm texture makes them great for cooking too. Tart, crispy and juicy. The pale green skin hides a shock of bright pink flesh giving the apple its name. A true aesthetic and culinary delight. For inspiration check out this recipe for Hidden Rose apple mascarpone tarts. Harvest time late September into October; this apple does best in the colder climates of the north. Sells out quickly.
This variety is not an heirloom.
