Heirloom Apple Varieties

Pitmaston Pineapple

Raised in England around 1785, it has a sharp yet sweet, honeyed flesh. Small, golden yellow covered in fawn russet sometimes with a pineapple or honey-nut flavor. Parentage is thought to trace to Old Golden Pippin. Its small size has left it neglected in modern terms of apple production, though the flavor is stand out and the fruit rather attractive. We harvest Pitmaston mid-September.
