Heirloom Apple Varieties

Honeycrisp

This apple is one of the most popular on the market today. A new American variety developed in Minnesota in the 1970’s and released to the commercial market in 1991. They grow very well in Vermont and other northern cool climates and are picked when tree ripe. They have a refreshing blend of tart and sweet, with a crisp, breaking flesh, which means that a chunk breaks off when bitten into. Orange-colored skin with a red blush. Mid-September harvest.

This apple is not an heirloom variety.
