Esopus Spitzenburg

Thomas Jefferson grew this variety at Monticello and it is said to be one of his favorite apples. It is considered one of the best highly flavored eating apples in America. It originally came from Esopus, New York in the 1700’s. A blocky shaped apple with reddish-orange skin. Parent to the Jonathan apple. Harvest early October.
