Heirloom Apple Varieties

Court Pendu Plat

Court Pendu Plat was originally noted in the early 17th century in France, but is widely thought to have existed in the time of the Roman Empire. It is well suited to cold climate and earned its nickname as the “Wise Apple” because it blooms after the usual late spring frosts that plague northern growing climates. The apple is also noted for its flesh and bite- it is very dense with little juice and strong flavor that ripens through the early winter in storage. It has a flattened shape and the blossom end is very distinctly indented. We harvest on the later end, in mid-October.
