Heirloom Apple Varieties

Berlepsch (Red)

This German apple is a red mutation of the Freiherr von Berlepsch, whose parentage is an auspicious cross between Ananas Reinette and the Ribston Pippin. It retains the juicy pineapple flavor of the Ananas with a fine grained flesh and hardness found in the Ribston. Berlepsch is widely noted for its high Vitamin C content. The tree tends to biennial fruit bearing and is sensitive to late frost. But its excellent taste and nutritional content make it worth the effort. Harvest mid-September.
