Each year on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, we open our event room at Scott Farm for an heirloom apple tasting celebration. Orchard Manager Ezekiel Goodband will offer free samples of his favorite heirloom apples that he has collected over his 40-year career. Zeke will also share the history and lore of these rare apple varieties.
What was Thomas Jefferson’s favorite apple? What does a Sheep’s Nose apple taste like? What was Julia Childs favorite cooking apple?
Join us on Heirloom Apple Day and create your own heirloom apple sampler, order a GIFT BOX or stock up on your favorite apples and VT specialty products. Sample the unique flavors of these historic apples, and take home some of our famous heirloom cider.
Heirloom Apple Day is Sunday, October 8th. Rain or Shine. Come celebrate with us as we showcase many of the over 120 varieties we grow here on the farm, fresh, baked and squeezed. Free tastings and apple lore at 10 a.m., 12 noon and 2 p.m. The Farm Market is open from Labor Day until the day before Thanksgiving.
Whetstone CiderWorks wil be sampling their delicious hard ciders and Rigani wood fired pizza will be making seasonal sensations in the on-site oven.
